Top 5 Sporting Events

Since last weekends Penn State v. Notre Dame game I've been thinking a lot about this. So my challenge to you, name the Top 5 sporting events that you have seen - IN PERSON. These can be at any level. However, they can only be one game. You can't name a tournament of some sort, you must pick a particular game. Here are my 5:

5. 2 Rows behind the penalty box for the Avs v. Tampa Bay Lightning
4. Penn State taking down Notre Dame in front of the second biggest crowd at Beaver Stadium (and everyone in white)
3. The 2007 Frozen Four Championship Game
2. Wyoming beating UCLA in the Las Vegas Bowl
1. Syracuse beating Kansas in the Regional Finals of the 1996 NCAA tournament.

Oooohhhh good topic. Here's mine:

1. Keene State U. vs. Southern NH U. Volleyball (Chia v. Kim)
2. UNH vs. FL Gators at the Whit - even though they got killed, it was cool seeing the Whit full - prolly the biggest game of my dad's coaching career. Well, at UNH.
3. Got to sit in the 500 club for a Red Sox game at Fenway once
4. Notre Dame vs. USC football (I think) It was cool just seeing a game at ND.
5. My first UNH hockey game.

1. 2002 Men's Snowboard Half Pipe at the Olympics, 3 Americans swept it... Danny Kass, JJ Thompson, Ross Powers. And I got to meet Danny's family. They loved me, naturally.
2 Ski ijumping at 2002 Olympics... Harry Potter won. Then we got to see his medals ceremony. He wore a cape.
3. My first Red Sox game in 2001, with my Daddy, of course.
4. The Nuggets games with Cody, just because he is fun to go with (sorry, I didn't pick just one).
5. There was a real cool University of Utah game I saw, and it was super close, overtime, and buzzer beater. I just can't remember who they played... bad memory Maggie.

1977 ECAC semi-final hockey game at the "gahden" between unh and cornell - final unh 10 cornell 9 - 2ot (had to look it up) next night (didn't go to this one) bu beat unh in the final

9/1/07 - bshs varsity soccer game - jason's first goal in high school soccer. it was a long wait for somebody who has scored in every other league he has played in. it doesn't matter if we win another game all season now.

about 10 years ago, matt and i went to a phillies-marlins game with one of our paint vendors. it was in a luxury box and we could see straight down the first base line. it was matt's first major league game. he thought all games had a private room, with a bathroom, buffet and all of the cheesecake you could eat.

going to an orioles game with gary about 25 years ago. he had so much to eat, that the floor under his seat looked like a landfill.

i was at a ravens game at the old memorial stadium just after they came into the nfl. the seats were so high, clouds were floating below.

I don't have as many great sporting events to draw from as most of you. But I can say this:

5.,4,3,2,1 Watching Zack,Cody and Maggie play anything!!!

Oh, I guess #6 would be SU beating KU to go to the Final Four. Picture the Pepsi Center 95 % full of KU fans, and about only 500 of us SU fans. Never screamed so much in my life !

Some of these aren't pretty ... but are memorable.

5. Game 6 against the Mets in '86.

4. Game <7> against the Mets. (Don't forget .... they had the lead in that game, too!)

3. UNH scores three 3-on-3 goals in less than 2 minutes with Clark-Hislop-and-Cox on the ice against RPI in the ECAC quarters to tie the game (only to ultimately lose by a goal).

2. The McCandless 8-year old coach-pitch baseball team wins the Scott tournament when Ryan Tiesi hits one 240 feet over the centerfield scoreboard with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th.

1. The most amazing game will always be UNH 10 Cornell 9 in the ECAC semis in double overtime!!! Both teams scored 9 goals in regulation ... and then went scoreless through one overtime!?!?! (Bought front row first balcony from Cornell fans after and had great seats for another loss to BU ... natch.)
